I’ve gone mad

Posted on November 3rd, 2025 in entry

I’ve been coding and tweaking and nattering for some godIdon’tknowhowmany hours straight, so forgive me for being insane.

I’m going to write it down, anyway.

LOLCat captions are written in “Pidgin”. True story. That’s what they’re calling it.

People are having relationships via twitter in 140 character bursts.

Others are having entire conversations cross-site in Flickr photo tags. We’re talking in tags.

How quickly can you grab the relevant information off a page? 20 words? Ten? Five?

People may be as dumb as bricks sometimes — just look at the comments section of YouTube if you don’t believe me. Give people space to write and they’ll give you back shit, 99% of the time.

But with faster communication systems we’re learning to communicate faster. Developing complicated netspeak beyond just simple letter or word replacement. Shoving an entire twelve page rant into DO NOT WANT. We’re moving into, haha, radio communication. Roger that? Only it’s multimedia, because we can toss up a pic (worth a thousand of them) or a vid or an mp3 to sup the broken grammar.

Club, groups, scenes, doctors, pros in any field have always had lingo, faster than thought communication. A well oiled machine can talk faster than an outsider can listen. A loved one can lecture or praise with a twitch of the lips. We’ve always been able to communicate this fast, but never with so many at once.

Of course, we’re still sticking captions to cats.

But once we’re fluent at talking in nothing…

Well, some do enough damage with a couple thousand words.

You could crack the world with seven.

  1. Just read Warren’s “Sunday Hangover” then this, and to me their both about the same thing. That being people throwing shit at a wall and calling it a relationship. In his case, real shit, in yours a real(ish) relationship.
It amazes me, the responses. A guy over on SG read his and basically said “Ya, it’s gross, but it’s ok if people want to do it”. I am saying no, it is not ok. It is not even ok that they want to do it. Make a real connection, be fucking human, people, or just fucking shoot yourself. It is not ok to replace depth with convenience in totality and call it freedom and progress. And for fuck’s sake stop flinging shit and calling it human, that’s reverse evolution.
Haven’t these people seen Planet of the Apes?

  2. try to say things that gave you maybe 30 minutes to say them, and try to say them in twitter or something that cannot gave you the possibillity to express correctly what you want to say>
people want to do it, just maybe because they cannot know what to say “georgeous, beutifull, nice legs, blabla ….”
i don’t say that sometimes i write dumb things on trixiebedlam flickr. But it’s in English and my mother language is french. I know that Mr Ellis will say i’m a fuckin bloody froggies and that nobody can’t cure my frenchness, but that doesn’t mean i cannot see what are happening with internet and twitter and sms, people become dumb and imagine new words. It reminds me 1984 when they try to get less words to express things. Try to transform people in lamb and you won’t have any problem.
but with all my work and all the things i saw in the world, i won’t believe anymore in human nature.
i will explain why another time in the right time.
    so for the moment.
internet = less words = more dumb people = less art and culture
    words from a sarcastic man
but who love Ariana Osborne blog

Okay, great, David Lynch and Werner Herzog are teaming up to make "a horror-tinged murder drama... loosely based on the true story of a San Diego man who acts out a Sophocles play in his mind and kills his mother with a sword." Suresure, sold.

But what's this, buried at the end?

"In a separate development, Lynch's Absurda production company has attached Asia Argento and Udo Kier to star with Nick Nolte in Alejandro Jodorowsky's metaphysical gangster movie "King Shot."

Tomorrow, go out and high-five a total stranger in celebration.

Freshly returned to the Midwest/blogosphere from my voyages to San Mateo, San Francisco, and Seattle, I received word today of the Boston Phoenix’s article on steampunk makers. I interviewed with the journalist responsible for the story a month ago, and she included coverage of many of the talented and vibrant makers I met in person at the MAKE Magazine Maker Faire ten days ago.

Check out the article here! I’ll be posting photos from the Maker Faire and additional West Coast adventures later this week.

Whatever issues you thought the run-up to the 2025 election was going to be obsessed with, you were wrong, as of this morning. For the next six months, Fox News coverage will be predominantly cribbed from the lyrics of the Dead Milkmen song "Stuart".

What kind of crazy shitty world do we live in when both John Phllip Law and Will Elder die back to back?

Captain EO via Irene Kaoru

Did you get a chance to see the multimillion dollar 1986 3D short film Captain EO, starring Michael Jackson and Anjelica Huston, during its run at Epcot Center? I remember seeing it as a child. I remember loving it so much I made my parents take me to see it a second time…immediately. In my mind it had grown vast and all-encompassingly cool, and I am surprised to look it up now and find it is just shy of twenty minutes long. This is one of humanity’s most charming survival tactics: our brains tend to compress unpleasant memories, sometimes suppressing them entirely, and elongate nice memories. I had thought this film was a full feature. If you didn’t see it then, in 3D, when you were young and untouched by irony, I weep for you. At least you can still see it on youtube.
